About Tom Connelly
Tom Connelly’s journey to Batavia began as a law student at Northern Illinois University. Alongside his wife, Sam, whom he met during their undergraduate years at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Tom was immediately drawn to Batavia’s rich history, scenic downtown, and the Fox River’s natural beauty. But what truly captured their hearts was Batavia’s extraordinary sense of community.

Starting their Batavia life in an apartment on Houston Street, Tom and Sam soon purchased their first home in the city’s historic 4th Ward, near the original Louise White School. It was there that Tom’s deep connection to the community flourished, leading to his appointment as a Batavia City Council alderman. He proudly served his neighbors for two years before stepping down in 2023 to focus on his growing family, relocating to Batavia’s vibrant 7th Ward.

Now, as a husband, father, attorney, and dedicated public servant, Tom is ready to serve Batavia once again—this time as Mayor. With years of experience advocating for others in his legal career and a proven track record of civic leadership, Tom brings a unique perspective and steadfast commitment to addressing the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Tom’s dedication to the community extends beyond his professional roles. He has served in leadership positions with the Kane County Bar Association, the Batavia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and Tri-Com Central Dispatch. Currently, he contributes to Batavia’s Historic Preservation Commission and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Batavia.
As Mayor, Tom is committed to preserving the charm and historical significance that make Batavia special while driving thoughtful economic growth and fostering a vibrant, family-friendly environment. His vision is clear: to make Batavia a welcoming, dynamic, and thriving city for all who call it home.
